Energy Efficiency Reviews - Apex Renewable Energy Systems

Apex's Energy Efficiency Review Services

Energy EfficiencyOver 80 per cent of people believe that climate change is having an impact on the UK right now and yet 40 per cent of us are doing nothing to reduce our energy use.

Knowing and caring about environmental issues is one thing but actually doing something about them is something altogether different - according to our Green Barometer. The Green Barometer is the first national index of public opinion on green issues and will track these on a quarterly basis.

Being seen to be green is popular among 70 per cent of the UK population. It's a socially acceptable thing. Reducing the amount of energy in the home is seen to be as virtuous as donating to charity.

What is the the greenhouse effect?

Energy Efficiency SteamCO2 and various other gases wrap the earth in an invisible blanket helping to prevent heat from escaping. Without this greenhouse effect, the average temperature on Earth would be around -18ºC, compared with the current average of around +15ºC. This blanket of gases has remained at a constant for many thousands of years.

Since the industrial revolution began around 200 years ago, people have been burning more fossil fuels - releasing more CO2 and other greenhouse gases in the process. This has increased the heating effect of the blanket trapping more of the sun's energy inside our atmosphere. In turn the Earth's temperature has increased more rapidly in a shorter period of time than it has for thousands of years.

What's being done to help prevent climate change?

Energy Efficiency Climate ChangeUnder the Kyoto Protocol, by 2008-2012 the UK must reduce it's baseline emissions of six major greenhouse gases by 12.5 per cent from a baseline target set in 1990. The UK government has also set a target to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to 20 per cent beneath that baseline. The long-term goal is to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions by 60% by 2050.

How can APEX help?

Apex Renewable Energy Systems work with MIDAS, who provide grants to industry to fund up to 60% of our consultancy charges, to help improve the energy efficiency standards that are used in business through the use of best practice. We are able to cover lighting, heating, cooling, compressed air, office equipment, transport fuel and energy efficient motors. Apex Renewable Energy Systems work with all sizes and types of business from sole traders to large organisations with multi sites and hundreds of employees, local government, schools, community centres etc. Our goal is always the same. To offer ways of reducing costs and carbon emissions using no cost, low cost and high investment options. Apex's Energy Efficiency Review Services can offer help on an ongoing basis to implement the plans or for further monitoring if required.

What are the benefits of Apex's Energy Efficiency Review Services?

The benefits to business is enormous. Energy are costs rising at an unprecedented rate, almost 100% in 18 months, and many businesses have seen their bottom line eroded and in some cases totally eradicated. But with Apex's help they have been able become more energy efficient. A combination of employees' energy awareness, monitoring and targeting high energy consumption processes, the use of better controls for heating, lighting and cooling, the implementation of new technology, and the appointment of new suppliers of energy with lower tariffs has led to re-established bottom lines.

Many businesses and councils are looking to their supply chain to be more energy efficient and provide evidence of an ongoing commitment to reduce energy consumption and to recycle more.

Energy Performance Certificates

Starting in April 2008 new legislation will mean that buildings other than dwellings over 1000 sq m will have to have an energy performance certificate. Buildings which are visited by the public will have to have the certificate on show to the public and have a 1% efficiency improvement PA for nine years. A new certificate will be required each year.

On the 1st of October 2008 all buildings other than dwellings over 50 sq m will require an energy performance certificate EPC.

If you would like to know more about our Energy Efficiency Review services and how you can save money contact us today and one of our consultants will be happy to discuss your requirements.
