Solar Thermal Energy - Apex Renewable Energy Systems

Why Apex Solar Products?

  • Apex solar products are independently tested and certificated to (EN 12975 1 + 2)
  • Generate annually up to 70% hot water free
  • An installed Apex Solar System on a home will save at least one ton of carbon emissions each year
  • Combat increasing global warming and climate change
  • Meet the 10% target for renewable energy in housing
  • All Apex solar panels are fully recyclable.

How do Apex solar thermal panels and tubes work?

Solar EnergyApex solar panels are powered by light. It doesn’t have to be direct sunshine, there is sufficient energy in a cloudy day for the panels to collect energy for your hot water. When daylight strikes the panel light is absorbed into the panel and converted into heat. This heats up the heat transfer fluid in the copper heat transfer pipe. When the temperature in the panel is higher than the temperature in your hot water cylinder a digital controller activates the pump. The heat transfer fluid in the heat pipe pumps heat into your cylinder that heats up the water. When you have sufficient hot water in the cylinder the pump stops. If you draw hot water off (for example by running a bath) as the cold water enters the system the drop in cylinder temperature is sensed by the controller and it starts up the pump to bring the cylinder water temperature up to a desired level.

We estimate that the Apex Solar Collectors will produce up to 70% of your hot water over a year. They will produce more in the summer when the days are long and less in winter – the 70% is an approximate overall figure based on average hot water usage. We estimate that in December, when days are short, they will only make a small contribution to your hot water needs. However, in summer, when days are longer they will produce up to 93% or more of your hot water, all free and produced in an environmentally friendly way. At times when there is insufficient light to power the system (for example at night or on a rainy or foggy day in late December) the water is heated by your gas boiler or your electric immersion heater, in the traditional way. These will be the only times that you will be burning fossil fuel when heating your domestic hot water.

Benefits of using Evacuated Tube Thermal Solar Water Panels

Evacuated Tube Thermal Solar Water Panels
  • Meeting the 10% target for on site renewable energy in housing
  • Highly efficient with selective solar absorbing coatings with vacuum tubes can produce higher heat output even in cloudy weather
  • Can begin to output energy in two minutes
  • Can produce 50% efficiency even in temperatures as low as -30oC
  • Can easily be linked together to provide a large amount of hot water for commercial applications

Benefits of using Flat Thermal Solar Water Panels

Flat Thermal Solar Water Panels
  • Meeting the 10% target for on site renewable energy in housing
  • Lifetime of panels up to 30 years
  • All panels are aesthetically pleasing
  • Lower cost of panels
  • Custom made panels to fit roof and so maximise southerly facing areas

Environmental benefits

Solar Energy
